Gotta look at this thing th rite way. "I saw a bum pooping this morning and I thought of you" simply makes a joint affirmation. It dont imply no cnnecktion btween th two events. Seen in that lite, "I saw a bum pooping this morning and I thought of you" is bettr than "I saw a bum pooping this morning, but you are seldom in my thoughts." See? You ARE lovd!
